The book read in the audio track is: "You Get What You Get" by Julie Gassman, illustrated by Sarah Horne. Published by Picture Window Books, August 1, 2013.

Design/Recording Process

During this recording, I decided to try making several of the sound effects myself and modifying them to sound less realistic. The first effect starts at 0:50 in the recording. I took several samples of my voice, combined them, and added several filters to deepen my voice and yet keep the higher tone quality to make the track sound like a young boy grumbling.

The second effect was the stomp effect at 1:15. I was unable to find a suitable sound effect for a single stomp. I recorded this by stomping my foot and hitting my fist on a counter. Then I dampened the track and added a 2:1 compression on the track so that it sounded like a lighter stomp.

Recording Methods

To record this project, I first recorded the book onto audacity and then moved that recording over to GarageBand. I took sound effects from the Garageband effects library and my personal collection. Each track was adjusted so that they same tonal quality was heard on the recording. I made sure that the effects faded in and out at the appropriate time division of the track. Finally, I exported the file as an MP3 file.
